Have you ever felt discriminated against in any form? Ageism is a thing and several cases were reported in 2018. It’s concerning to think of age as something of less value, especially when some great talent can fall to the wayside based on age alone. Why must everything be placed in a box with a label? How can we take the bias out of job searching and hiring? Many would argue that candidates have already established bad habits as they get older and would rather hire a graduate that’s “trainable.” It’s true that we must keep up with technology, but it seems that employers are a little bias when it comes to the minds of the older and the wiser. One can update their skills regardless of what generation they come from. The key word here, is drive and will power. However, if I’m sitting in the waiting room with another person 10 years younger than me, waiting for an interview, I’m going in confident yet doubtful because that person might seem more qualified based on their age. If you feel discriminated against, here are a few tips to overcome this obstacle.
